You take the cost of the saffron and you divide it into the UC (units of color) of your saffron in this case ours:

Cost of our saffron $59.95 per ounce you divide into 263.4 UC units of color = 0.22 cents per unit of color.

Sample 1. Cost $160.00 per oz divided into 230 UC cost per unit of color is   = 0.69 cents per unit of color.

Sample 2. Cost $130.00 per oz divided into 290 UC cost per unit of color is   = 0.44 cents per unit of color

(The 2nd sample claims 290 .of color but even if this is true still the price is TWICE as much as ours).

Now we are going to analyze/compare cost price against the ounce (28.35 grs)

Our saffron cost $59.95 – 28.35 gr = (Ounce) = $ 2.11 per gram. Cost by unit of color 0.22 cents.

Sample 1. Cost $160.00 – 28.35 gr = (ounce) = $  5.64 per gram. Cost by unit of color 0.69 cents.

Sample 2. Cost $130.00 – 28.35gr = (ounce) = $  4.58 per gram. Cost by unit of color 0.44 cents.

In conclusion either by Coloring Strength or by cost of ounce Vanilla, Saffron Imports saffron has the lowest price $59.95 per oz and the highest quality 263.4 units of color.   It does not matter what the saffron exporter or importers says about the quality of their saffron or where their saffron is grown or how it is process the fact is that ALL saffron parameters can be measured by LABORATORY ANALYSIS and everything said by “experts” has no bearing whatsoever as the laboratory report says it ALL.    No matter how much you look for information about saffron it is a spice that is MISS UNDERTOOD and OVERPRICE and we have been working with saffron for forty years and the conclusion is the same saffron quality is measurable.   I can response to any of your technical questions you may have whether you are a chef, a food writer or a saffron consumer.
